Marie E. Reidy

age 92, of Indianapolis, Ind. died on Wednesday, August 27, 2014. Born on March 2, 1922 in Chicago, IL, she was the daughter of the late Al and Edith Johannes.

A graduate of Purdue University, she held a Masters Degree in Home Economics and taught in the Indianapolis Public Schools for 26 years. She was a long time member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church and was also active with the Knight of Columbus Goldennaires. She was a master bridge player and loved to sew. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and friends.

She is survived by her son, Patrick (Patricia) Reidy of Roanoke, VA; daughter, Barbara (Neil) Maitland of Lafayette, Ind. and son, Daniel (Tracy) Reidy of Indianapolis; 7 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and close friend and neighbor, Russ Luby. She was preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Bernard Grahn; husband, Joseph Reidy; son, Richard Reidy and sister, Jo Uhlman.

Visitation will take place on Sunday, August 31, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. at Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services - Lawrence , 5215 N. Shadeland Ave. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, September 1, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 4650 N. Shadeland Ave, Indianapolis. Burial to follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, Fishers, Ind. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Lawrence Catholic School. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
