Melissa "Misty" Simmons
Misty Simmons, of Indianapolis, passed away on September 21, 2013, as the result of a car accident. Misty was a graduate of Pike High School. She loved life and was very active. She was the Treasurer of the Kiwani's Aktion Club. Misty's true passion was Special Olympics where she participated in softball, bowling, track, swimming, and basketball. She had many loving friends in the Special Olympics community. Misty also worked for eleven years in the Butler University cafeteria.
Misty was preceded in death by her mom, Marilynn Constantine Simmons; her paternal grandmother, Lois Simmons, and maternal grandparents, Lyman "Beans" and Darlene Constantine. She is survived by her dad, Michael Simmons (Ann Marie Waldron); stepmom, Andrea Simmons; three brothers, Adam Simmons (Tosha Albor), Andrew Simmons, and Miles Simmons; two sisters, Amelia Simmons and Katherine Piscione; her grandfather, Alfred (Elda) Simmons of Kendallville; aunts Margaret (Carl) Weber, Monica Martin, Julie (Bill) Yates, and Kelly (Bill) Walkup, all of Kendallville, and Nancy Satterlee of Valparaiso; uncle, Kim "Duke" (Annette) Simmons of New Castle; special cousin, C.J. Herendeen Williams, and numerous other cousins and extended family members. She also was very much looking forward to becoming an aunt in December.
Misty always had a smile for everyone she met and always remembered the birthdays of everyone she knew. She will be truly missed by her family and friends. Hopefully she is now in the arms of her mom and grandmothers.
A visitation will be held on Friday, September 27 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. in the Leppert Mortuary Carmel Chapel , 900 N.
