Richard Roberts McDowell

76, Indianapolis, passed away Monday, October 14, 2013. Dick was born on May 9, 1937 in Kansas, to the late Leslie Paul and Mabel (Roberts) McDowell.

Dick received his undergraduate and Attorney at Law degrees from Vanderbilt University. While in college he entered the U.S. Navy and proudly served our country. He would later marry his love Joanne Dixon.

Dick was a tremendously loving husband, father, grandfather, son, and friend to all who knew him and will be sadly missed. Dick was an accomplished Attorney, partnering in The Law Offices of Hill, Fulwider, McDowell, Funk & Matthews. He was an avid supporter of St. Luke's United Methodist Church. He also had a sense of humor that everyone loved.

Dick is survived by his loving children, Missy Gibson (Chris) and Megan Calhoun (Jim); and two grandchildren: Oscar and Stella Calhoun.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents and wife Joanne McDowell.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 18, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. in St. Luke's United Methodist, Church with the memorial service starting at 11 a.m. and a reception immediately following.
