Rogers Ray "Roger" Schutt
91 years of age, passed from this life February 20, 2013. He was born August 19, 1921 to Rayman L. and Veda Marie Rogers Schutt, who have preceded him in death.
A lifelong resident of Indianapolis, Roger graduated from Arsenal Tech High School and received his degree in Civil Engineering from Purdue University. He served his country in the U. S. Navy, Construction Battalion, during WW II, and drove the beaches of Normandy and the islands of the South Pacific. He married Alice Jane Thompson, January 5, 1947, and she preceded him in death, March 15, 2012.
Roger was the president of R. L. Schutt Construction Co. and the co-owner of Flasher Barricade & Lite Co. He was a longtime member of Irvington Presbyterian Church and Hillcrest Country Club.
Visitation will be Sunday, February 24, 2013, from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Shirley Brothers Irving Hill Chapel , 5377 E. Washington St. Funeral services will be held Monday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with military rites to follow at Washington Park East Cemetery.
Roger is survived by his devoted son, Thomas R. Schutt, wife Mary Ellen; daughter-in-law, Clara Schutt; three grandchildren, Brian Schutt, Pamela Adair, and Thomas Durkin Schutt; four great-grandchildren; a brother, John Schutt, wife Janet; sister-in-law, Joanie Thompson; and many nieces and nephews.
A son, Michael Schutt, a granddaughter, Tracie Schutt, and two sisters, Jane Schutt Gran and Anne Schutt Stein, preceded him in death.
