Ronald D. Masten

78, died on Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013. Ron was born on April 30, 1935 in Avon, IN to Loren and Ethel Mitchell Masten. He graduated from Avon High School in 1953, attended Purdue University and served in the U.S. Army. He married Ramona Sparks on Oct. 4, 1959. Ron was a farmer and a school bus driver for Avon Schools. He served on the Hendricks County Extension Board, the Washington Township Advisory Board, Midland Co-op Board of Directors and the Countrymark Co-op Board of Directors. He is survived by his wife, Ramona; children, Debbie (Steve) Larkin, Donna (Walter) Kegebein, Karen (Mike) Hayden, Bonnita (Tim) Whicker, Stacey (Chris) Bergstrom and David (Tara) Masten; and 19 beloved grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters, Doris Carlton, Lydia Gibbs and Carol McGowan; brothers, John and Joe Masten. Visitation will be on Friday, Nov. 8 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. in Plainfield Christian Church, with services on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 11 a.m., also in the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Plainfield Christian Church or the Hendricks County 4-H Youth Council. Conkle Funeral Home - Avon Chapel is handling arrangements.
