Ross A. Kipka

82, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife and daughter on Monday, December 3, 2012. He was born on April 11, 1930 in Cleveland, OH, to the late Ross Eugene and Marion (Albin) Kipka.

Ross attended Hawken School, Cleveland, OH, and graduated Cum Laude from Phillips Academy in Andover, MA, in 1948. He graduated from Yale University in 1952 and obtained his law degree from the University of Michigan in 1957.

Ross proudly served his country in the Korean War with the US Air Force as a 1st Lt. and was Honorably discharged in 1954 and served in the US Coast Guard in 1956.

His worked at Eli Lilly & Co. as general legal counsel and retired in 1993 after 27 years. Ross was an active member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church and served a term as Senior Warden of the Vestry. He was a member of the Columbia Club, Rivera Club, and the Small Point Club in Maine, American Bar Association, Ohio State Bar Association, American Legion Robert E. Kennington Post, Phi Delta Phi, Zeta Psi, Indianapolis Museum of Art, Indiana Landmarks, Indiana Historical Society, Eiteljorg Museum, Yale Club of Indiana and New York City, and the Indianapolis Zoo. He was a former Board member of the Concord Neighborhood Center, Premier Capital Corp, as well as the Indianapolis Early Music.

Ross is survived by his wife; Mary H. "Joie" Kipka and his daughter; Julia (Stephen) Enkema and brother; Robert E. Kipka. He enjoyed being with his loving grandchildren; Jack, Noelle and Sarah Enkema. He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Kathryn Kipka and his sister; Barbara Gulshen. Family and friends will gather on Tuesday, December 11th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm in the Leppert Mortuary, Nora Chapel with funeral services being celebrated on Wednesday, December 12th at 1:00 pm in St. Paul's Episcopal Church.
