Ruthann Simons McDonough
84 of Carmel, IN passed away on January 31, 2014. She was born in Sharon, PA on November 12, 1929 to the late Edward and Mary Simons.
She is survived by her loving sons, Edward P. McDonough of Indianapolis and Mark J. (Lori) McDonough, and her three adoring grandchildren, Katelyn, Riley and Griffin McDonough, all of Carmel. She was recently preceded in death by her devoted husband of 56 years, Joseph Vincent McDonough.
She earned her RN certification from Sharon General Hospital School of Nursing and then a Bachelor of Science degree from Duquesne University. She went on to teach nursing at West Penn School of Nursing, Indiana University School of Nursing and Methodist Hospital. She happily retired in 1967 upon the arrival of their eldest son.
Ruthann had a servant's heart. She was a longtime member of Orchard Park Presbyterian Church, where she was dedicated to several ministries. She had particular devotion to serving those who were dying or grieving. She was faith filled, genuine and selfless in everything she did.
Above all, the titles of wife, mother and grandmother were her most cherished. Together, Ruthann and Joe enjoyed a beautiful life centered on Christ and family.
Calling will be on Thursday, February 6, 2014 at Flanner and Buchanan - Carmel, 325 East Carmel Drive, Carmel IN 46032 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be on Friday, February 7, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in Orchard Park Presbyterian Church, 1605 East 106th Street, Carmel, IN 46032. Entombment will be in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery.
