Dr. T. K. Puttaswamy
81, of Muncie, Indiana passed away on April 26, 2013. He was born on January 17, 1932 in Tumkur, India to Tumkur Krishnappa and Bagirathamma.
He came to this country in 1959 and got his MS degree from University of Minnesota in Mathematics and then later got his PHD in mathematics from SUNY Buffalo University. He has published over 100 articles in renowned journals and presented in many international conferences. He was the recipient of an Outstanding Research Award at Ball State University and was a full professor at the time of his retirement. He worked at Ball State University from 1967 to 1994. A member of the American Mathematical Association, he recently completed a textbook entitled "Mathematical Achievements of PreModern Indian Mathematicians" published by Elsevier, Insights.
Survivors include his wife Pramila Puttaswamy; Two daughters Dr. Shashi Puttaswamy M.D. and Padmaja Kamalesh; son-in-law Dr. Masoor Kamalesh; and grandchildren Raghavendra Masoor Kamalesh and Nidhishree Masoor Kamalesh.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 28, 2013 from 10:00a.m. to 12:00p.m. at the Leppert Mortuary, Nora Chapel with the cremation starting at 12:00 p.m.
