Van Cooley Obituary

Van Edwin Cooley, Ed. D.

64, of Indianapolis, passed away on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at Fernandina Beach, Flordia. He was born on April 15, 1948 to Ralph and Sue Cooley in Gary, Indiana.

Van was the interim Dean of the College of Education and Human Development at Western Michigan University. He worked in the field of education for 38 years and was an advocate for education.

Van served his country as a medic in the United States Navy in Vietnam.

He is survived by his wife, Linda J. Cooley; son, Brian (Kristen) Cooley; daughter, Amy (Jake) Pitcher; father, Ralph E. Cooley; sisters, Pam (Steve) Pawlicki and Kim (Don) Snemis; and four grandchildren, Noah, Evan, Liam and Lillie.

Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 11, 2012, at Randall & Roberts Fishers Mortuary , 12010 Allisonville Road, in Fishers, with Rev. Stanley R. Sutton officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday, August 10, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and also on Saturday beginning at Noon, immediately prior to the service. Burial will be at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery in Indianapolis. Military honors will be given at the cemetery.
