William Edwin Weaver
Age 83, of Indianapolis, passed away at his residence Sunday, October 20, 2013. He was born February 17, 1930, in Bloomington, Indiana to Chester and Zola Etta (Dobson) Weaver.
Bill graduated from Bloomington High School in 1948. He then went on to receive his BA in Science Mechanical Engineering from Rose Hulman in 1953. While at Rose Hulman he was a member of the Lambda Chi social fraternity and he rose to the rank of 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army. He received the UN Defense Medal during the Korean War as well. After serving in the Army, he went on to receive his Masters of Science Degree from Purdue University in 1961.
While in high school in Bloomington, Bill first worked at the old Guergen's Grocery. He spent his professional career at Allison Engine Company as a Senior Engineer in the Turbine Division for 40 years, from 1955 to 1995.
Bill will always be remembered as a quiet gentle man, who was a philanthropist, loved cars, and devoted his life to taking care of his mother.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Zola Weaver, his sister Barbara Sue (Weaver) Smock, and niece Carol Smock.
He leaves behind his niece, Janet Smock of Bloomington; close and dear friends, Barbie and Ray LaBarge and their children Sarah, Olivia, and Jack; Maryann and Joe Stewart, as well as Judy and Ron Rinear. He also leaves behind his beloved cat and close companion, Cindy.
Funeral services for Bill will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. in Allen Funeral Home , 4155 South Old Highway 37, Bloomington, IN. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Bloomington.
