Edward A. Chase 83 yrs. 7 months passed away on March 19, 2014 with his family at his side. He was born in Oakland, CA on August 19, 1930 to the parents of the late Ernest C. and Beatrice Chase, Loving husband of Lola Chase, father to Linda C. Chase-Stroud, and son-in-law Kevin C. Stroud, grandfather to Cameron and Ali Stroud. Attended Alameda High School, class 1948. He had an AA from San Francisco City College. He was involved with the Boy Scouts of America, Alameda Chapter DeMolay. He was a member of Apollo F & A M # 396 since 1952 and served as Master in 1983, served as Treasurer of Island City, Lodge # 215. He joined San Leandro Junior Chamber of Commerce and served as secretary. Moderator of First Christian Church in Alameda and an Elder for over 30 years. He served as Worthy Patron of Carita Chapter, # 115, O.E.S. He was also involved with the Rotary Club of San Leandro serving as President in 1984 and received his Paul Harris Fellow the same year. In 1988 he joined the Rotary Club of Castro Valley and served as Secretary. Retired as Master Sergeant from the Air Force. He followed his father in the business at Chase Jewelers, Inc. where his wife, Lola and Linda both joined in the family business. He was a Certified Gemologist Appraiser with the American Gem Society as well as a qualified goldsmith. Serving as President of the local American Gem Society in 1978 when the International Conclave was held in San Francisco. He was also active in the Native Sons of the Golden West as well as S.I.R. branch 26. Private interment was at Mountain View Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held May 18, 2014 at First Christian Church, 2441 San Jose Avenue, Alameda, CA 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers contributions to: First Christian Church, 2441 San Jose Avenue, Alameda, CA 94501 or the Inner Wheel U.S.A.
