Resident of Castro Valley
Gordon L. Sims of Castro Valley passed away at home on May 17th with his loving wife, Claire, of 64 years by his side. He also leaves his beloved son and daughter, Steve and Debbie, and many nieces and nephews. A resident of Alameda County for more then six decades. Gordon was born in Pennsylvania and moved to California at an early age. Raised in Los Angeles, he graduated from Lake Elsinore Military Academy. He met his wife and best friend, Claire at a dance and they were married three weeks later. After serving in the US Navy for two years, he started his 40-year career in banking, and retired from the Hayward branch of United California Bank as Assistant Vice-President in 1992. Throughout their married life, Gordon Claire enjoyed traveling, especially on cruises and their many trips to Maui and Palm Springs. Gordon's pleasures were fishing, playing poker and golfing with his many friends. He enjoyed a Scotch Old-Fashioned and food with lots of garlic. He loved life, his family and was a friend to all. He had countless friends who will miss his kindness and great sense of humor. A memorial service will be held at Neighborhood Church/Three Crosses, 20600 John Drive, Castro Valley, CA 94546, on Saturday, June 23rd at 11:00 AM.
