Jack was born on April 24, 1911 in Indianapolis, IN. Jack joined the U.S. Navy in 1927 and served with the Asiatic Fleet in China until 1932. After the bombing of Pearl Harbor, HI in 1941, Jack reenlisted with the U. S. Navy and served with the Seabees in New Caledonia until being honorably discharged in 1945. Jack operated his own residential/commercial painting business until "retiring" in 1985 at age 74. Jack continued to stay active as a member of the Masons, Shriners, Eagles, Moose and Elk lodges. From 1995 - 2002, he enjoyed working as a crossing guard for the Hayward Unified School District and also working part time as a senior volunteer with the Hayward Police Department. From 2006 - 2012, Jack competed in the Veterans Golden Age games, traveling across the country each year and during his six year attendance brought home seven gold metals and two silver metals. He is survived by one son, eleven grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 11 great, great grandchildren.
Services will be held on Friday, January 11, 2013 at 11:00am at Chapel of the Chimes in Hayward, CA. Friends and family will convene at the Fremont Elks Lodge following the service. Jack requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in his memory to the Shriners Hospital for Children (
