"Bill" Louis Jefferson Bloyd born in Dinuba, CA to William and May Bloyd, youngest of 12 siblings, celebrated heaven's homecoming 3-19-2014 and reunited with wife of 64 years, Iva Bloyd preceding him in death 3-14-2006.
Being a man after God's own heart he remained a strong spiritual pillar for his family. He embraced many as "his kids." Bill is survived by his wife Marimar Bloyd, 1 stepson, Emmanuel, 2 daughters, Patsy and Dennis Bezayiff, Connie and Tom Drumm, Papa/Popie to 4 grandchildren, Debby & John, Cindy & Oppie, Jeff &Veronica, Sally, Robert, , 8 great-grandchildren, Jessica &Al, Brittany &Dana, Stephen, Rebekah, Johnny, & David, Tyler &Trevor, 2 great-great-grandchildren, Carter & Juliana, & Baby Abreu on the way.
Dedicated and devoted husband, father, Papa/Popie, World War II Veteran/South Pacific/Artillery Gunner. Retired Stagerigger/Hunters Point Shipyard 1986. Elder of New Hope Christian Fellowship since 1956 (placed church steeple in final construction). Had a gentle spirit and trust in the Lord and power of prayer. His sense of humor and hugs became signature traits. Would give the shirt off his back, his last dollar, or buy a meal for a hungry bystander. He captivated all with his wisdom, integrity, and life stories. Family, church, camping, Progressive Rummy and fishing filled his life.
He will be missed by all who knew him. Thanks to VA Hospital Hospice staff (Palo Alto), family and friends for care, love and support.
Friends and family are invited to a visitation on Mon., Mar, 24, 2014 from 5-9 p.m. and a funeral service on Tue., Mar. 25, 2014 at 10 a.m. at Chapel of the Chimes Funeral Home "Reflection" chapel, 32992 Mission Blvd. in Hayward. Burial at Chapel of the Chimes Cemetery. Reception to follow at New Hope Christian Fellowship, 22110 Montgomery, Hayward.
