Nick Francone Obituary
Nick Francone
Feb. 12, 1931-Oct. 21, 2012
Resident of Castro Valley
Nick Francone passed away on Sunday after a long valiant battle with his health.
The oldest of four children, he was born into an Italian immigrant working class family in Ely, Nevada. His family headed west when he was a young boy and they settled in Oakland. He graduated from Castlemont High School, where he met his sweetheart, Spanish beauty Jeannie Martin. They were happily married for 61 years. Nick was a patriotic man, an army veteran, and a devoted husband who dearly loved his wife and three children. A man of his word, disciplined, strong, and smart with a stellar sense of humor. You could depend on dad. He was the best a father could be and we will miss him dearly.
From sausage maker to Operations Manager/Vice President of several meat packing companies Nick climbed the ladder of success from humble roots to the top. He was very proud of his accomplishments at work; he revolutionized the meat packing industry. He even invented several products that are sold in stores today.
His passion was to locate, purchase and restore vintage cars. For decades he entered his classics into a variety of car shows throughout the state. He usually returned home with first place ribbons. He was also a modest yet successful land developer, investor and entrepreneur.
He will always be remembered for his courage under fire in the Army in the 50's and mostly in the last few years of his life, while battling illness. His courageous spirit continued to amaze everyone around him until the very end. He is now reunited with the love of his life and no longer suffering.
Nick is preceded in death by wife Jeannie, parents Dominic and Pauline, and brother Benny. He is survived by his three children-Stephania, Karen (Kenny), and Martin (Anna), brother Bob (Vicki), sister Candida (Al) and many loving relatives.
Friends and family are invited to a visitation on Monday, Oct. 29, 2012 starting at 5:30 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Holy Angels Funeral Cremation Center, 1051 Harder Road, Hayward, a Funeral Mass on Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at All Saints Catholic Church, 22824 Second Street, Hayward.
