Robert Glenn Chaplin|
March 12, 1926 - June 21, 2013
Resident of Hayward, California
Bob was born and raised in Wendell, Idaho to Ernest and Grace Chaplin. While serving in the Navy during WWII on the USS Ticonderoga, Bob was stationed in Seattle. After the military, Bob launched his career in the infancy of computer programming (remember punch cards?). While in Seattle he met his future wife of almost 65 years and the next adventure began.
After marrying Lorraine on July 2, 1948 the newlyweds started a new life in Seattle and raised 4 loving children (Larry and Paula Chaplin of Texas; Cher and Pat Hagen of Seattle; Susie and Jon Fischer of Portland and Mark and Millie Chaplin of Mississippi).
Families naturally grow and Bob was blessed with 5 amazing grandchildren (Joe in Alaska, David and Kristy in Seattle, Kim in Texas and Kevin in Livermore) as well as 8 adorable great-grandchildren (Shelby and Max in Seattle and Avery, Indira, Luis, Jocelin, Danny and baby Gabriel born on his birthday this year, in Texas).
The Chaplin family would like to acknowledge and thank the warm and caring doctors, nurses and staff of Sutter Hospice during this last year.
A celebration of Bob's life will take place at a later date. Please call New Bridges Presbyterian Church at 510-786-9333 for details.
