Vincent (Jim) Conti passed away peacefully on Friday, May 4, 2012 at the age of 88. He was the eldest of 5 children born to Giovanni Rosaria Conti of Oakland, CA. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII and 21 years in the Army Reserves. He married the love of his life, Louise Mossholder, on September 25, 1954. They enjoyed 57 years of marriage. In addition to his wife, he leaves behind two daughters, Lisa (Don) Johnson of Hayward, Rita (Scott) Sinclair of Grayslake, IL and four grandchildren, Danielle Lindsay Johnson of Hayward and James Jacob Sinclair of Grayslake, IL. He also leaves behind his sister Rose Costa of Oakland and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Victor and Louis Conti and his sister Mary Murray, all of San Leandro.
Vince worked for 33 years at GSA in South San Francisco and 14 years at ESL in Sunnyvale. He retired in 1989. After retiring he and Louise were fortunate to take many wonderful trips to all corners of the US and abroad. They spent several winters in their RV in Arizona with family and friends.
Vince belonged to the Alameda Elks, Colombo Ligure Clubs. He was an usher and Eucharistic Minister at St. Joachim's parish and a long-time member of the St. Vincent dePaul.
Vince's family would like to thank Pam, his wonderful caregiver for the last 3 years. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. Vincent dePaul at St. Joachim's Church, 21250 Hesperian Blvd., Hayward, CA 94541.
Family and Friends are invited to attend a visitation at Holy Angels Funeral Center, 1051 Harder Rd., Hayward on Tuesday, May 29th from the hours of 5:00 - 8:30 pm with a 7:00 pm vigil. Memorial Mass will be on Wednesday, May 30th at 10:30 am @ St. Joachim's Church, 21250 Hesperian Blvd., Hayward. Burial will be private.
