Edward James AhernEDWARD JAMES AHERN 88 of Hudson, OH, beloved husband of 64 years of Barbara (nee McKee), loving father of James R. (Jan), Edward J., Jr., Michael G. (Julia) Capt. USN Ret., and G. Thomas (Candace), dear grandfather of Brittny Ahern (Scott) Strubbe, James R. (Julie) Ahern, Jr., Jessica Ahern (Matt) Kirschling, Lisa (Tim) Clay, Edward J. (Sami) Ahern III, Matthew Ahern, Daniel Ahern, Kelsey Ahern, Ryan Ahern and Tess Ahern, Great Grandfather of Ireland and Thomas J. Strubbe, Emily, Ashley, Katie and Samantha Ahern Taylor, Hayley and Tim Clay. Brother of the late Eldred Ahern Olson, Phyllis Ahern Walsh and Therese Ahern Cummins. Died Monday, July 21, 2014. Edward graduated from the Cheshire Academy in Cheshire, CT in 1944, He attended Georgetown University and graduated from Fairfield University in Fairfield Ct. in 1951 with a Bachelor of Science Degree. Edward worked for GE and retired from J & L Steel. Mr. Ahern served his country in the U.S. Navy, was a member of St. Andrews Golf Club, coached Little League and was a member of the Optomist Club in Overland Park, Ks., The O'Bannon Creek Golf Club in Cincinnati, OH, Sea Pines Country Club and Holy Family Catholic Church in Hilton Head, SC. He also loved golf, sailing, hockey and fishing. In Lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to Crossroads Hospice 3743 Boettler Oaks Dr. Suite E, Green, OH 44685 or the 70 W. Streetsboro St. Suite 201 Hudson, OH 44236. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday July 26, 2014 at 10:00 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church 340 N.
