Annabelle Kent, 89, of West Lafayette, passed away at 10:35 a.m. Tuesday, December 25, 2012 at University Place of West Lafayette.
She was born January 6, 1923 near Williamsport, Indiana to the late Maynard and Ruth (Jones) Robertson. She graduated from Williamsport High School in 1941, and attended Purdue University.
Her marriage was to W. Bradley Kent on October 9, 1948 in Crawfordsville, IN. He preceded her in death in January of 1996. She was a member of Covenant Church of West Lafayette, and was also a longtime member and past President of Psi Iota Xi Sorority of Brookston.
Annabelle was a florist and co-owner of Florella Flowers of Brookston in the 1960s and 70s. She later worked in cosmetics and fragrances for L.S. Ayres. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, shopping, reading, and dancing. She loved being with her family and was a good friend to many. She also was an avid Purdue Women's Basketball fan.
Surviving are two children: Marilyn Kent Tapajna (husband: Joseph) of Flossmoor, IL, David Kent (wife: Nina) of Brookston, five grandchildren; Seth Kent (wife: Kristin) of Battle Ground, Elizabeth Tapajna Scott (husband: Kaon) of Flossmoor, IL, Matthew Kent (wife: Amber) of Monticello, Rachel Tapajna of Newport Beach, CA and Tyler Kent of Brookston, and two great-grandchildren; Kaydence and Jaxson. Also surviving is a son from a previous marriage, Bill Robertson of Bartlett, IL. and three grandchildren, David, Debbie, and Merry. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Ann Robertson of Sarasota, FL. and Anna Harriet Owens of Lafayette; first cousin, Alice Stark of Decatur, IL; as well as eight loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Robertson.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Friday, December 28, 2012 at Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home of Brookston. Burial will take place at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens at 10:30 a.m. prior to her funeral service at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, December 29, 2012 at Covenant Church of West Lafayette (211 Knox Drive, West Lafayette, IN 47906) with Pastor Tom Johnson officiating.
