David Earl Starrett, 71, of Monticello died at 3:24 on Monday morning March 24, 2014 at his home after battling brain cancer for three years.
He was born December 5, 1942 to Clarence Earl and Elizabeth Ann (Roche) Starrett in Lafayette, IN.
He was a 1960 graduate of Central Catholic High School and then studied Restaurant, Hotel and Institutional Management at Purdue University.
He married Annice (McVay) July 15, 1967. She survives at their home in Monticello. A sister, Judy Bramer, survives in Lafayette. Also surviving are three children: son Cortland and wife Roxanne of Brookston, son David Shane and wife Tina of Lafayette and daughter Karen Miller and husband John of Cutler. There are eight grandchildren: Nicholas, Jessica, Lucas and wife Katelyn, Hannah and husband Esteban Mora, Katharine, Levi, Ruby and Matthew.
Dave worked as a salesman with various companies in the manufacturing industry and retired from Girtz Industries near Buffalo.
He and Ann loved gardening together and time with family and friends. He enjoyed turning a wrench on his '81 Camaro. He regularly socialized with his Central Catholic classmates (Knights Out) and played over 15000 games of pool with close friends.
David was a member and taught Sunday School at Lockport Church. He served as officer of Gideons International and Spanish World Ministries, which included travel to Argentina, Honduras and Peru.
A memorial service will be held at Lockport Church, 10301 N 300 W Burnettsville, IN 47926 on Saturday, March 29, visitation 1:00-3:00 with funeral directly following. www.lockportchurch.org.
