Diane L. Goubeaux, 61

Diane L. Goubeaux, 61, of Flora, died unexpectedly Tues.-Jan. 28, 2014 at 3:34pm at IU Health Arnett Hospital-Laf. She was born Oct. 23, 1952 in Greenville, OH, to Berdell & Gretchen Schnepp Lehman, who survive in Berne, IN. She was a 1971 graduate of South Adams High School, Berne; received her BS in education in 1975 from Huntington College; received her MA in recreational studies from Purdue University 1980. She was currently teaching at Carroll Jr.-Sr. High School near Flora, Physical Education, Health, and Anatomy. She started teaching at Carroll on August 22, 1975, and loved her job, the students, and her co-teachers,  very much. She attended the Flora United Methodist Church, and was a former member of the Psi Iota Xi Sorority. She belonged to the IN State Teachers Assoc., Carroll Education Assoc., National Educators Assoc., and was the coordinator for the Every 15 Minutes Program at the high school for many years. She also was a cheerleading sponsor, and coached girls basketball. After school let out, she would be in the school parking lot, making sure the students who drove, had on their seatbelts, not allowing them to leave until they complied with her. A true act of love and kindness she expressed to her many students. She enjoyed gardening, and reading, and liked to cross stitch. Her biggest love, was watching her 3 nieces play whatever sporting event they were involved with. Surviving: parents-Berdell & Gretchen Lehman of Berne; brothers: Doug & Shelly Lehman of New Palestine, Kevin & Gail Lehman of Colleyville, TX; nieces: Brittany, Erin, & Casey Lehman; special friend: Rob Julius of Indianapolis. Services: Friends may call Sunday from 12pm until her funeral service at 4pm, at the Carroll High School Gymnasium, Rev. Larry DeVos officiating. Burial will be Monday at 11am at the M.R.E. Cemetery in Berne. Memorial contributions to the Carroll Education Foundation, envelopes available at the school. Baker-Abbott Funeral Home, Flora, in charge of arrangements.
