Donald J. Gillenwater

Donald Joe Gillenwater, 82, of Remington, died at 4:25 pm, February 9, 2014, at Heritage Healthcare of West Lafayette. He was born on January 10, 1932 in Enfield, IL to William E. and Lela F. (Tucker) Gillenwater and attended school there before joining the United States Marine Corp, where he served in the Korean War.

His marriage was to Margaret Ann Gibbs on April 15, 1953 in Evansville and she survives.

He was a member of the American Legion of Fowler and the VFW of Rensselaer, and worked as a truck driver for over 60+ years. Don enjoyed fishing and Sprint Car races.

Surviving with his wife of 60 years is a daughter, Debra Woodbury of Wolcott; 6 grandchildren, Jon Gillenwater, Tracey Gillenwater, Perry Dale Woodbury, Carey Woodbury, Jo Woodbury, and Brandey Gillenwater, 8 great-grandchildren, and 8 siblings.

Preceding him in death with his parents are a son, Donald Howard Gillenwater, and 5 siblings.

Friends may call from 1 pm until the time of Memorial Service at 2 pm, Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Heritage Bible Church, Remington, with Pastor Dan Nave officiating. Stitz-Clapper Funeral Home of Remington is entrusted with care. Memorials may be made to the Heritage Bible Church or to the .
