Donald P. Martin, 67, of Lafayette, passed away at 9:53 p.m. on Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. Born May 8, 1946, he was the son of Lowell A. Martin of Lafayette and the late Lillie E. (Patrick) Martin. He honorably served in the U.S. Navy in the Philippines as a teletype operator, where he relayed messages from the front line. He was recommended for service to the White House. He earned his Associate degree in Aviation Maintenance Technology and his Bachelor's degree in Industrial Supervision from Purdue University. He earned his MBA from Butler University.
Donald was a quality control engineer for Cummins Engine Company for 30 years. He was a pet lover.
Surviving with his father are a son, Brian Martin, wife Vanessa) of West Lafayette and two grandchildren, Nate and Benny.
Memorial visitation 4-6 p.m. Tuesday at Hippensteel Funeral Home, with memorial service to follow at 6 p.m. Pastor Craig LaSuer officiating.
