Grace Elizabeth Smith Reuzenaar Dienhart, 90, of Lafayette, passed away at 5:30pm on Thursday, January 30, 2014, surrounded by her children and loved ones. Grace was born November 10, 1923 in Buck Creek, Indiana. She was the daughter of the late Levi "Lee" and Martha Elizabeth Klemme Smith. She graduated from St. Francis High School in Lafayette. Grace did clerical work for the sisters of St. Francis to pay for her and her sister's tuition. Upon graduation she became the executive secretary for the president of the telephone company. Grace married Jack Edwin Reuzenaar, the love of her life, on January 12, 1946 in Lafayette and he preceded her in death on February 4, 1964. Grace married James Howard Dienhart in July 1968 and he preceded her in death on April 26, 2007. Grace was a secretary in the Purdue University History Department for 21 years, retiring in 1986. She is a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Altar and Aid Society, 50 Plus Club, St. Elizabeth Auxillary, and the Lafayette Bowling Association.
Surviving are her children Marsha Kay Duda (husband Chester), Wayne Thomas Dienhart (wife Kathy), Jack Benlee Reuzenaar (wife Pam), Robert Lee Reuzenaar (wife Anjie), Carol Compliment (husband John), and a sister, Martha Dexter of Lafayette. Preceded in death by children Gerald Bruce, Deborah Sue, Anthony Wayne Reuzenaar, and two sisters Lucille and Evelyn. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Jeff, Shannon, Renee, Dan, Erick, Chad, Lindsay, Brooke, Allison, Brett, Amanda, Justin, Ben, Blake, Annmarie, Cory. Great grandchildren Alicia, Drew, Adam, Henry, Evan, Lucas, Cedrick, Austin, Ryanna, Clayton, Colton, Aubrey and one on the way. As well as many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Visitation is Monday evening 5pm-7pm at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 1916 Meharry Street. Rosary will be prayed at 4:45pm. Funeral mass will be offered Tuesday 10am at St. Lawrence Catholic Church by Father Dan Gartland. Burial to follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Lawrence School Building Fund in honor and memoriam of Grace, Jack and Tony Reuzenaar.
