Grant K. Davis, 90

Grant K. Davis, 90, of West Lafayette, formerly of the Otterbein area, died, Tuesday, December 25, 2012, at Heritage Health Care, West Lafayette. He was born September 10, 1922, in Green Hill, to the late Raymond Victor and Blanche Leona (Buck) Davis. He was a 1940 graduate of Otterbein High School. He married Ileta Van Horn, April 17, 1944, in Otterbein and she survives. He served in the US Army with the Calvary from 1943 until 1946. He had worked at Metzger Lumber as a Lumber Yard Manager and later at Purdue University, in Tarkington Hall, as a Storekeeper. He enjoyed pitching horseshoes and writing poetry. He was a member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church, Charter member of the Lafayette Historic Auto Club, National Horseshoe Pitchers Association, Otterbein American Legion Martin Kennedy Post 125 and the Elks #143.

Surviving with his Wife of 68 years, Ileta Davis, West Lafayette; 2 Daughters, Linda (Husband, Bob) Beardsley, Fowler, Rita (Husband, Sam) Foster, Otterbein; 7 Grandchildren; 17 Great-Grandchildren; 4 Step-Grandchildren and several Step-Great-Grandchildren; Sister, Ethel R. (Husband, Arnett) Wolverton, Otterbein and Brother, Carl R. Davis, Decatur, Ind. 3 Sisters, Lucy Nixon, Dorothy Callahan and Gladys Harden and 3 Brothers, Wallace, Lawrence and Paul Davis preceded in death.

Visitation will be Sunday, December 30, 2012, from 5-8 p.m., at Shoemaker Funeral Home, Otterbein. Funeral Service will be Monday, December 31, 2012, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Joe Park and Gary Sims officiating. Burial will be at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens. Memorial Contributions to Otterbein American Legion Martin Kennedy Post 125 or Otterbein United Methodist Church.
