Hayden M. King, 88

Hayden M. King, 88, passed away in Ft. Wayne, Sunday, June 8, 2014. He was born in Spiceland, Indiana, but moved to Rush County at a young age where he spent his remaining life. Hayden was a farmer and worked for Indiana Farm Bureau, Inc. for over 25 years. He also worked for the ASCS office in Decatur County, FHA assisting with farm loans and as an enrolled agent with the IRS filing income taxes for farmers.

Hayden grew up on 100 acres of fertile land and was a Jersey cattleman. He graduated from Mays High Schoolin 1943 and Purdue University in 1951. He participated in the Center township 4-H club showing Jersey's at the local and state fair. He was a member of the BPOE 1307 for many years. He was a charter member of Purdue FarmHouse Fraternity and played clarinet in the Purdue Marching Band. He was a fan of PU football and basketball, attending many home games. He bled Black and Gold -- Boiler Up!

Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Elizabeth A. (Henderson) King whom he married September 23, 1951, daughters Sharon (Ron) Baker of West Lafayette and Brenda (Bruce) Sowers of Fort Wayne, and son Douglas (Irene) King of Evanston, IL. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. His parents C. Hillard and Myrle (McDaniel) King preceded him in death.

Funeral service is 10 AM Saturday, June 14, 2014 at Moster Mortuary, 334 N. Main St., Rushville, IN with calling one hour prior. Calling also from 4 to 8 pm, Friday, June 13, 2014 at the funeral home. Burial in Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown, IN. Memorials may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or the Purdue FarmHouse Foundation.
