Ivan Lee Blunt, 91, of Wolcott, passed away at 3:20 a.m. Monday, April 29, 2013 in his residence at the Digby House of Lafayette.
He was born December 10, 1921 in Scottsburg, Indiana to the late Simeon G. and Nellie B. (Mitchell) Blunt. He graduated from Wolcott High School in 1941, and attended business school at Danville College.
He served in the United States Army from June of 1942 until he was honorably discharged in August of 1947.
His marriage was to Dorothy "Jane" Karp on March 24, 1960 at Boswell United Methodist Church in Boswell. She survives.
Ivan was a member of Boswell United Methodist Church, Wolcott American Legion, Wolcott Masonic Lodge and he was a volunteer firefighter for the town of Wolcott.
He worked at the Wolcott Grain Elevator, Jenkins and Nagel Trucking, Peoples Grocery Store and he later retired as the Wolcott Town Clerk.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching sports, especially basketball and gardening.
Surviving with his wife are four nieces and nephews, Ann, Scott, Jane and John Kroegher and six great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Helen Marie Kroegher.
Friends may call 4-8 p.m. (EDT) Thursday, May 2, 2013 at Foster-Clapper Funeral Home of Wolcott and also from 12:00 p.m. (noon) (EDT) until the time of funeral service at 1:00 p.m. (EDT) Friday, May 3, 2013 at Meadow Lake Presbyterian Church of Wolcott with Pastor Anella McFee officiating; interment to follow at Meadow Lake Cemetery.
