James Edward Barce, 55, of Kentland, passed away on January 29, 2014 at Iroquois Memorial Hospital of Watseka, IL.
He was born on December 20, 1958 in Lafayette to the late John Wilson Barce and Patricia Barce (Griffis). He was a 1977 graduate from Benton Central High School and went on to earn a Juris Doctorate from Indiana University.
His marriage was to Christine Bower on June 24, 1989 in Kentland and she survives.
Mr. Barce had practiced law since 1986 and served as the Newton County Prosecutor for 16 years.
He was a genuine and compassionate person. He enjoyed entertaining family and friends through his love of cooking, along with a wonderful sense of humor.
Surviving with his wife and mother, are his two daughters, Allison and Abigail Barce, both are attending Indiana University; and his four siblings, Holly Barce of Indianapolis, Janet Richardson (husband: Johne) of Kansas, John C. Barce (wife: Katie) of Fort Wayne, and Jud Barce (wife: Jennifer) of Fowler.
A visitation will be held from 3-6 pm (CDT), Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Stitz-Clapper Funeral Home of Kentland with a Private Family Service to follow with Fr. Robert Bernotas officiating.
