James M. Ingram, 93

James M. Ingram, age 93, of Portage, IN passed away on July11th, 2013. He was born January 23rd, 1920 in Pine Village, IN to Elmer and Susie A. (Neal) Ingram who preceded him in death. James is survived by his son, Richard L. (Hazen) Ingram of Brookston, IN; son-in-law, Dr. Stephen Heckler of Portage, IN; sister, Bernice (Bill) Robinson of Lafayette, IN; grandchildren, Angie (Dan) Shirley of Valparaiso, IN, Julie (Nathaniel) Chaddock of Valparaiso, IN, Laurie (Erich) Rush of Crete, IL, Sarah "Sissy" Heckler of Valparaiso, IN; great-grandchildren, Danny & Kara Shirley, and Owen & Trevor Chaddock. James was preceded in death by his parents; first wife Eva Ingram; second wife Midge Edna Ingram; daughter, Karen L. Heckler; brothers, Vernon Maxwell Ingram, Joe Ingram, Robert Ingram. James was a member of South Haven Christian Church. He was a farmer and World War II veteran. He taught Sunday school for 40 years at Schuyler Ave. Wesleyan Church in Lafayette. James enjoyed gardening and loved going to Jansen's Nursery and was especially fond of his apple trees. He earned a Horticultural Degree from Purdue University. James was devoted to God and enjoyed reading daily devotionals. He loved puzzles and game shows. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, July 16th, 2013 at South Haven Christian Church, 780 Juniper Rd., Valparaiso, IN 46385 with Pastor Chad Allen officiating. Private family burial will take place at Montmorenci Cemetery, Montmorenci, IN. Visitation will be held Monday, July 15th, 2013 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 6941 Central Ave., Portage, IN 46368.
