James R. Young

Pine Village - James R. Young, 83, Pine Village, passed away at his home on Friday, October 18, 2013.

James was born in Pine Village, Indiana, on February 26, 1930. He was the son of the late William Herschel Young and Vera P. (VanHoutin) Young Wright. James had lived most of his life in Pine Village, graduating from Pine Village High School in 1948.

James entered the Air Force in 1951 and served during the Korean War. At the time of his honorable discharge in 1955 he had attained the rank of Staff Sergeant.

James worked as an independent over-the-road truck driver.

He was a life member of the V.F.W. Post# 3318 of Attica. He had formerly enjoyed riding motorcycles.

James leaves behind a nephew, Edwin (Vicki) Young, Lafayette; a great-nephew, Jamey (Monica) Young, Lafayette; a great-niece, Krystal (Tom) Ragle, West Lafayette; four great-great-nieces, Sally Young, Khloe Ragle, Josie Ragle and Leah Young; three step nieces, Rhonda (Leroy) Valentine, Rossville, IN, Jan (Wally) Emrich, Reynolds, IN and Karen Reynolds, Chalmers, IN; several step great-nieces and great-nephews and step great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Danny W. Young.

Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Sunday, October 20th, from 12:00 p.m. until the service time at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Mike Link officiating. Burial with military honors by the Air Force, American Legion and V.F.W. Posts will be in the Pine Village Cemetery, Pine Village, IN.
