Mary A.(Klar) Board, 78, of West Lafayette, passed away Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at St. Elizabeth Central Hospital. Born September 14, 1935 in Lafayette, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Emily (LeMay) Klar. She has lived her entire life in the Greater Lafayette area, graduating from the former St. Francis High School and Lafayette Business College. Her marriage was to Donald C. Board on March 7, 1964 in Lafayette and he survives. For over 35 years, Mary worked as a bookkeeper in the Memorial Union and Stewart Center on the Purdue University campus before retiring. During the same time, she had served as an usher at the Elliott Hall of Music. Mary was a long time member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church and enjoyed reading romance novels, watching game shows and antique shows, and spending time with her family and friends.

Surviving with her husband, Donald, are their two children, Mary K. Parish (husband, Elden) of Lafayette and Donnie C. Board (wife, Barb) of West Lafayette, two sisters, Ruthann Ashton of North Carolina and Bernadette "Bunny" Head of Attica. Mary is also survived by her 5 grandchildren, Kialin, Josh, Ashley, Elizabeth "Liz", and Jenni. Mary was preceded in death by a daughter, Helen E. Board, 3 sisters, Glennie Bryant, Joanne Ruben, and Karen Ubler, and one brother, Jack Klar.

Memorial Mass of Christian burial on Friday, July, 11 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Interment at St. Boniface Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Ann's Soup Kitchen. Simplicity Funeral Care entrusted with care. Share memories and condolences online at
