Max R. Ezra, 86

Max R. Ezra, 86, of Lafayette, died Wednesday, February 13, 2013, at IU Arnett Hospital.

He was born February 8, 1927, in Lafayette to the late John H. and Bernice Harness Ezra.

Max graduated from Lafayette Jefferson High School and served in the United States Navy. He attended Purdue University and Indiana University. On October 7, 1957, he married Mary Erwood in Park Ridge, IL and she survives.

Max began his career in marketing in the Chicago area, then with Amana Refrigeration in Cedar Rapids, Iowa in Marketing and Management. Mr. Ezra and his wife owned and operated Max Ltd. in Market Square for 10 years. He then worked as a Realtor/Broker for the Shook Agency in Lafayette and is retired.

He was a member of Stidham United Methodist Church and enjoyed playing golf, woodworking, reading and following the History of the Civil War and spending Fall vacations in Tennessee.

Surviving with his wife are nieces, Kyle Gingrich Fulks (husband David), Kristin Gingrich Walkey (husband Jack), both of Lafayette, Gretchen Gingrich Brown (husband Thomas) of Sterling, IL.

Also surviving are several great-nieces and nephews, great-great-niceces and nephews and his cousin John Harness (wife Carol) of Hendersonville, NC. Max was preceded in death by a sister Ruth Ezra Gingrich and her husband Wayne.

Visitation will be 1 hour prior to a 11:00 AM service Monday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Rev. David Inskeep officiating. Burial will be at Spring Vale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials to Stidham United Methodist Church or Almost Home Humane Society. Sign the guest book and leave memories at www.soller-baker.com.
