Born December 27, 1938, in Brookston, IN, the daughter of Charles and Julia (Phillips) Haderle, Nancy married Dr. Mijo Vonic, her husband of 25 years, on August 13, 1966, in Glens Falls, NY.

Nancy graduated in the class of 1956 from Brookston High School, Brookston, IN, and was a 1961 alumna of Purdue University, having earned both her bachelor's and master's degrees from Purdue's English department. Nancy passionately supported higher education and her alma mater through her involvement as a long-time member of Purdue University's President's Council and as a very valued member of the Purdue Libraries' Dean's Advisory Council.

As a life-long learner, Nancy explored literature, the arts, and culture, uniquely integrating her studies with travel, having visited all seven continents.

She is survived by her son, Michael (Brenda) Vonic and grandchildren, Magdalena, Nathan, and Julia Vonic, of Hampshire, IL; brother, Robert (Mary Lou) Haderle, of West Lafayette, IN; sister, Caroline (Gordon) Wright, of West Lafayette, IN; as well as many nieces and nephews.
