Ora L. Strong, 76, of West Lafayette, passed away at 9:11 p.m. on Saturday, June 29, 2013 in his home. Born November 14, 1936 in Lafayette, he was the son of the late Charles and Zala (Ross) Strong. He was a 1955 graduate of Lafayette Jefferson High School.
Ora retired from Pay Less Super Markets where he worked in the stock room. He then went to work for Harlan Security as a security guard at Purdue University's University Spirit and Wind Mill Farm. He was a member of the American Bowlers Congress and an avid bowler, having bowled a 700 series. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge of Lafayette and an avid IU sports fan and NASCAR fan, especially Jeff Gordon.
Surviving are a brother, Jerry Strong (wife, Barb) and a sister Betty Graves (husband, Richard) both of Lafayette, two sister-in-laws, Laura Hurst and Marjorie Strong, 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 27 nieces and nephews, two step-sons, Keith McMillin of Florida and Kevin McMillin (wife, Carmen) of Lafayette, and two step-daughters, Kay Littleton of Delphi and Kathy Emmons of Lafayette. He was preceded in death by his wife Betty (Birge) Strong, three sisters, Karen Warren, JoAnn Strong, and Mary Kay Strong, and five brothers, William and Jack Hurst, Charles Strong, Jr., Robert and Harry Strong.
