Ralph E. Haynes

Ralph E. Haynes, 64, of Chalmers, died at 1045 am, on Monday, March 31, 2014 at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis.

He was born on December 7, 1949 in Williamsport. He was raised by the late John Haynes Sr. and Elizabeth (Sims) Haynes. She survives. He grew up in Rossville and was a 1969 graduate of Rossville High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army and Army National Guard. Ralph married Susan Taskey in 1974 and they had two wonderful children together. They later divorced.

Ralph was employed by Dahnke Construction, General Foods, and Retired from TRW in 2013. He was a member of the Indiana Sheriffs Association, American Legion Post #268, Fraternal Order of Eagles, and a variety of Golf Associations.

He enjoyed playing golf, going to casinos and was a softball coach for both Frontier High School and Rossville High School as well as for recreation leagues in Brookston, Chalmers, and Rossville. Ralph was an avid Indiana University (IU) Sports fan.

He is survived by his mother; son, Matt Haynes of Lafayette; daughter, Sara Haynes of Tampa, FL; brother, John Haynes Jr. (wife: Tina) of Buffalo; two sisters, Marilyn Leach (husband: Toby) of Frankfort, and Carolyn Haynes of Kokomo.

He was preceded in death by his father.

There will be a celebration of Ralph's life from 5pm - 9pm (EST), Friday, April 4, 2014 at the American Legion, 110 E. Main Street, Chalmers.
