Ray Erasmus Robertson, 92, of Sarasota, Florida (formerly of Fowler Indiana), passed away November 6, 2012. He was born August 11, 1920 in Carroll County, Indiana, to Charles Milton and Hildred Magdalene (James) Robertson. After graduating from Burlington High School, Ray attended Purdue University Agriculture Short Course and the National School of Aeronautics in Kansas City. He served in the Air Force from 1942-1945 as an Intelligence Specialist with the 388th Bomb Squad in England.
On April 7, 1946, Ray married Rosella Irene Zinn. They were married for 66 years. After being Honorably Discharged from Military Service, he farmed in Carroll County until he began a career with Farm Bureau Insurance, which lasted for 30 years.
Ray was very active in the community, serving on the board of the Fowler Senior Center, member of the American Legion and VFW, Benton County Library Board, the Board of Mental Health, an active member of Rotary for 40 years, a member and Treasurer of Fowler United Methodist Church, Treasurer of Benton Central Athletic Boosters, and a member of the Art Colony at Fountain Park Chautauqua.
Ray is survived by Rosella, his wife of 66 years, a sister, Marilyn Beard of Frankfort, Indiana; five children, Edwin Charles (Margie), Elaine Kay (Tom) Ballard, Nancy Lee (Paul) Holekamp, Sheila Dee (Skip) Collins, and Scott Ray, eleven grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister, Eileen Pullen, and one son, Neal Jay.
A memorial service will be held at Buckingham Club in Sarasota, Florida. Burial in Burlington, Indiana.
