Raymon, "Craig" Hubele, 87, of West Lafayette, formerly of Tell City and Evansville IN, passed away at 4:05 p.m. on Monday, July 8, 2013. Born September 10, 1925 in Carmi, IL, he was the son of the late Raymond D. and Roblye (Craig) Hubele. He was a 1942 graduate of Central High School in Evansville and earned his BA in Electrical Engineering from the University of Evansville. He earned his Masters Degree in Industrial Education from Ball State University. He honorably served in the Air Force during WWII.
Craig married Alma Doris "A.D." Smith on April 6, 1947 in Evansville, IN and she preceded him in death on August 12, 2009. He was the former Assistant Dean in the School of Technology at Purdue University for the 5 years before retiring after 27 years at Purdue University. Prior to serving as Assistant Dean, he was a professor for 12 years and department head for 10 years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in West Lafayette and a former member of the Kiwanis Club. He enjoyed playing golf and dabbling with electronics. He and his wife enjoyed traveling the world with his friends and family. He was a wonderful grandfather and spent many weeks a year visiting his granddaughters and family in Texas and attending all their special events.
Surviving are a son, Craig Brent Hubele (wife, Susan J.) of Flower Mound, TX, a brother Stephen S. Hubele of Washington State, and his three granddaughters, Stephanie M., Alexis D. and Brooke C. Hubele. He was preceded in death by a brother Roger C. Hubele.
Visitation one hour prior to the 10 a.m. service Saturday at First United Methodist Church, West Lafayette with Dr. J. Philip Klinger and Rev. Craig LeSeur officiating. Entombment to follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens with military rites.
