Thomas A. Ahler, 69, passed away at 12:05 p.m. Friday, July 4, 2014 at his home in Lafayette surrounded by his family. Tom was born February 27, 1945 in Lafayette to the late Robert and Helen Shoemaker Ahler. Tom was a lifelong resident of Lafayette and a graduate of Central Catholic High School. His marriage was on February 27, 1971 in Lafayette to Faye Ingle and she survives. He was a carpenter and was employed by both the Carpenters Union 215 and Purdue University. Tom was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and an avid sports fan. He loved NASCAR, Purdue sports, and the Chicago Cubs.
Tom is survived by his wife of 43 years, Faye Ahler; two sons, Daniel (Nicole) Harmeson of Lafayette, and Thomas Ahler, Jr. of Fishers; a grandchild, Olin Harmeson; three sisters, Alice (Dave) McEwen of Lafayette, Mary (Bud) Noe of Greeneville, TN, and Helen Swick of Lafayette; and four brothers, Jim Ahler of Lafayette, Bill (Gail) Ahler of Georgia, Paul (Pattie) Ahler of Arizona, and Dave (Jane) Ahler of Arizona. Tom was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert Ahler.
