Connie Mae (Waters) Terry, 67, passed away May 8, 2013, as she rested peacefully at home. Her husband was by her side.

Born Aug. 23, 1945, in Fergus Falls, Minn., Connie was the daughter of Horace Lester Waters and the late Alice Waters. She was a devoted, loving wife and mother to three children. Beloved by many in the local community, she was affectionately known as "Sister Terry." For many years, she was involved in various church ministries, including women's, prayer and visitor ministries. She also taught Sunday school and children's church. She attended Christian Life Fellowship and Potter's House. A former member of the Sierra Club, she loved the outdoors and nature. She is a graduate of UCLA's dental hygienist extension program.

She is survived by her dedicated husband of 47 years, Darrell Terry; her eldest son and daughter-in-law, Les and Christie Terry of Ft. Worth, Texas; her son and fiancé, Jason Terry and Monica Deriggs of Jacksonville; her daughter and son-in-law, Amy and James West of Arlington, Va.; her six grandchildren, Ariel, Stephen and Geoffrey Lewandowski and Jason Michael Terry, all of Jacksonville, Kailey Hoover of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Dylan Mae West of Arlington, Va.; two great-grandchildren, Lilly Lewandowski and Christopher Lewandowski, both of Jacksonville; her father, Horace Lester Waters; and sister, Karen Quinn, both of Meridian, Idaho.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday night at Jones Funeral Home, Jacksonville.

A funeral service will be at noon Wednesday, May 15 at Christian Life Fellowship in Jacksonville, and a graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery with the Rev. Errett Marshburn, the Rev. Mike Padgett and the Rev. Jim Miller will officiate. Following these services, the family will receive friends at Christian Life Fellowship.
