HAMPSTEAD - Wilbur James "Jimmy" Thompson, 71, formerly of Richlands, died Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 3 at First Baptist Church, Richlands with the Rev. Gary McAbee and the Rev. Mickey Humphrey officiating.
Mr. Thompson was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving with the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ashley and Dicie Miller Thompson.
Survivors include his wife, Jane T. Thompson of the home; two sons, Scot Thompson and his wife, Lorie of Richlands and Jason Thompson and his friend, Kim of Hampstead; two sisters, Bernice Sanders of Richlands, Bonnie Melton and her husband, Roy of Richlands; two brothers, Billy Thompson and his wife, Jenny of Pink Hill, Bobby Thompson and his wife, Betty of Hubert; two granddaughters, Hannah and Madison; mother-in-law, Viola Thompson of Hampstead; nieces, Sandra Hardison, Terry Hill, Brandy Lammonds, Sherry Rodriguez, Nicole Cook and Donna Potter; nephews, Chris Sanders, Ashley Melton, B.J. Thompson, Jonathan Thompson, and Greg Thompson; brother-in-law, Donald Thompson and his wife, Sandy of LaGrange.
The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service on Friday evening from 6 until 6:45 p.m. and at other times at 577 Koonce Fork Road, Richlands.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to First Baptist Church, Richlands.
