Polkoski, Albin Died peacefully on February 5, 2014 at 91 years. He is preceded in death by his wife "Cookie" (Madeline) of 50 plus years. Proud father of Cathy (Jim) Healey, Allen (Laurie) Polkoski, Tony (Toni) Polkoski, and Dan Polkoski. Proud grandfather to Dave (Gina) Mealey, Jay Mealey, Brad (Amy) Mealey, Chad (Patti Polkoski) Elizabeth Polkoski, Ryann (Brad) Knoll, Tom Plotkin, Bryon, and Jefrey Polkoski. Great-grandfather to Dominic Lapp, Abbey, Austin, Maddie, Aaron, Heather, and David Jr. Mealey, McCaffrey and Karson Knoll. Great-great-grandfather to Elanie. He is survived by two sisters, Sophie Cuchra and Bernice Stupperich, and preceded in death by 12 brothers and sisters. He was a husband, father, godfather and friend and is survived by many nieces and nephews. Albin worked hard but still found the time to teach his sons, grandchildren, nephews, and friends how to hunt and fish. He was a member of the Cement Mason's Union and served in the Coast Guard. He was born and raised in Iron River, Wisconsin and moved to Milwaukee because Cookie did not want to be away from her family. Part of the bargain was that they would move up north when he retired. He was an avid sportsman and has several published articles written about him by Jay Thurston. He has been sober for 55 years and during that time, helped many men and women through their recovery. We love and miss you dad. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, February 14, 2014 at 11 AM at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Iron River, WI. A luncheon will follow the Mass at the church. Burial will be at a later date in the church cemetery. Family and friends are invited for visitation on Friday from 9 AM until 11 AM at the church. A memorial service will be held in on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at St. Vincent Pallotti Parish, 201 North 76th Street, Milwaukee at 10 AM. Visitation will be held from 9 AM until 10 AM on March 15, 2014 at the church. Our thanks to Brookfield Rehabilitation, Froedtert Hospital, and Vitas Hospice Care, who made his last days comfortable.
