Alec P. Karter Notice
Karter, Alec P. Of Brookfield, Wisconsin, died peacefully in his sleep early this past Sunday morning, September 22, 2013, at the age of 66. Alec was the loving father of four girls: Lindsay (Dan) Miller of Dellwood, Minnesota; Alexis Karter of Chicago, Illinois; Calli Karter of St. Paul, Minnesota; and Kristin Karter of Fort Myers, Florida. Loving grandfather of Taylor and Karter Miller; and brother of Eleni (Reider) Hoff and Satira (Dr. George) Mekras. He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Mary Karter. His numerous dear friends from childhood to adulthood were an extension of his family. Born in December of 1946 at Waukesha Memorial Hospital, Alec spent most of his life in Brookfield. He graduated from Brookfield Central High School, class of 1965; where his children went on to graduate from as well. His family and friends called him: "Mr. Brookfield". Alec graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Madison and began his lifelong love for the Wisconsin Badgers; eventually traveling all over the country with his daughters and friends to support his team, including attending numerous Rose Bowls and even taking his family to Hawaii for games. Alec was the proud owner of Karter's Coffee Shop and Half Pound Pub for over 25 years before he went into the commercial real estate industry forming Karter Commercial. Alec had many passions over the years as a proud member and leader of several associations. Alec loved to travel, but his fondest times were spent with his greatest love, his four daughters. Together they shared amazing experiences, quality time and unforgettable memories. His dedication, love and loyalty will live on forever through his children. Alec was known to many as "The Best Guy I know". All who knew him, loved him. He devoted his life to his family and friends. Those memories he created for them will survive him for generations to come. We love you and miss you, Dad. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be donated to the Brookfield Central High School Central4Ward fund. Visitation at the Funeral Home in Brookfield, Friday, September 27, 2013, from 4:00-7:00 PM.
