Larson, Bernice E. Of Greenfield, passed away on Monday, July 8, 2013, at Alexian Village. Bernice was born on December 11, 1911 in Pleasant Ridge, WI. She was the retired Nursing Administrator of St. Luke's Hospital, Milwaukee. Bernice was preceded in death by her parents Bennett and Nora Larson, brothers Lawrence and Arthur of Spring Green and sister Florence (Raymond) Stace of Oregon. Survivors include nieces Kaaren Larson, Judy (Dale) Hottmann, and Cindy (Phil) Manske of Spring Green; Kristen (John) Clary of Mount Horeb and nephews Donald (Gloria) Larson of Baraboo, and Eric (Sally) Larson of Richland Center. Bernice was a graduate of the Methodist Hospital, Madison School of Nursing and earned a B.S. from the University of Wisconsin, Madison and an M.A. from the Teachers' College Columbia University, New York City. Bernice spent 12 years at the University of Wisconsin Madison hospitals and 2 years as a nursing instructor on the U.W. faculty. She served in the U.S. Army Nurses Corps in WWII and is a member of the Jane Delano American Legion Post, Milwaukee. With her love of bridge, Bernice earned the title of Diamond Life Master of the American Contract Bridge League. She was past president of both the Wisconsin Upper Michigan and Greater Milwaukee Bridge Associations. There will be no service and internment of cremains will be in the Spring Green Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Alexian Village, Milwaukee.
