Gosewehr, Carl L.
Age 86, of Hartland, peacefully entered Eternal Life on November 24, 2012, while at his home surrounded by his beloved family. Carl was born in the Town of Saukville on November 13, 1926, to Amanda (Schultz) and Carl Gosewehr. Carl, the youngest of four boys, enjoyed sharing delightful stories of growing up working the family farm. He graduated from Port Washington High School, served in the
until 1946 and graduated from the
University of Wisconsin
, Madison in 1949, with a degree in mechanical engineering. Following graduation, he joined The Oilgear Company and remained with the company until his retirement in 1991 as CEO.
In 1950, he married his high school sweetheart, Ruth Beeckler, and they raised a family with humor, integrity and love. He cherished exploring the world with Ruth and presented those adventures to family and friends through his legendary slide shows. Carl enjoyed refurbishing 'Big Gun', the boat that served as home for the family's summers on the Jersey Shore. He shared his love of baseball and golf with his family, as well as providing wonderful life lessons that will continue to be passed down through the generations.
Carl was active in the community and proudly served on various boards including The Oilgear Company, Oilgear Ferris Foundation, M&I Bank, St. Luke's Hospital, Aurora West Allis Hospital, The Redmond Company and Past President of Chenequa Country Club. He enjoyed volunteering at the Hartland Food Pantry. Carl was proud to be a member of the Platypus Society since its inception in 1982 and donated generously to projects at the Milwaukee County Zoo.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years Ruth (Beeckler), his parents and his brothers LaVern, Wilford and Milton.
Carl is survived by his loving wife Karen Bogus-Krisch, who will always cherish her brief but wonderful 6 1/2 years with him. He was the beloved and devoted father of Jean (Doug) Smith, Jan (Rick) Buckley, Joan (Jeff) Frank and Jim (Holly) Gosewehr. The loving Grandfather of Nathan Smith, Travis (Angela Westburg) Smith, Tim (Liz) Frank. Megan (Andy) Black, Jay (Erika) Frank, Blake (Lauren) Buckley, Jon Frank, Kaitlyn Gosewehr, Kirstin Buckley and Jason Gosewehr. A doting Great-Grandfather to Isaac, Addison, Owen, Lenora, Eleanor, Samuel and Sebastian. He will also be missed by his devoted and loving extended family; Lara (Krisch), Hank, Malin, Tom, Sam Ehrsam; Toni (Krisch), Danny, Kali, Connor, Sydney Flesch; Dana (Krisch), Renato, Isabella Gilberti and Bobi (Krisch), Dan, Peyton, Mia Komer. As well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and many wonderful, caring and fun-loving friends all around the globe.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Lake Country Congregational Church, Hartland on Thursday, December 27, 2012, at 5:00 PM with Reverend Shelley officiating. Visitation at church from 4:00 PM until the time of Services. Memorials may be made to a food pantry of your choice or the Zoological Society of Milwaukee.
