Charles Wallace Sprague Notice
Sprague, Charles Wallace 64, died June 22, 2014, at home surrounded by his loving family and friends after a brief but valiant battle with esophageal cancer. Raised in Short Hills, New Jersey, Charlie graduated from Pingry School in 1967 and Yale College in 1971. After a year of service in the New Jersey National Guard, he matriculated at New York University where he received joint JD-MBA degrees in 1976. Charlie moved to Milwaukee in 1994 to join Fiserv where he served as Vice President-General Counsel and later as Executive Vice President until his retirement in February 2014. Immersing himself in the Milwaukee community, he was a member of the Milwaukee Foundation Public Library Board, a former Trustee of the University School of Milwaukee, and a founding member of the General Counsel Forum of Milwaukee. But above all, Charlie was a loving and beloved family member: husband, father, brother, son. He ended his days exhibiting the same courage, grace and humility with which he conducted his life. He will be greatly missed by many. He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Mary Hamilton Sprague and his beloved daughter Martha Hamilton Sprague of Washington, DC. Charlie is also survived by his brother, John Arthur Sprague of New York City and his son-in-law, Timothy Heitman of Washington, DC. Memorial Services will be held at 3:00 PM on Monday, August 4, 2014, at ST. PAUL'S EPISCOPAL CHURCH, 914 East Knapp Street, in Milwaukee. At Charlie's request, in lieu of flowers to the family, donations may be made to the Milwaukee Public Library Foundation; or to the University School of Milwaukee;
