Christine Hamilton Foote Notice
Foote, Christine Hamilton Christy was born on March 12, 1950. She was the daughter of Jacqueline Spencer Macomber of Milwaukee and the late Charles Edward Hamilton of San Anselmo, California. She died in Chenequa, WI. on February 5 2014 after a valiant battle with cancer. Christy was the beloved wife of Robert T. Foote, Jr, Chenequa WI. She was preceded in death by loving grandparents Wallace and Elisabeth Spencer and Kenneth and Mabel Hamilton. She is survived by stepdaughter Laura Foote, New York, NY, and stepson Robert T. Foote 3rd, New York NY. Also survived by half-brothers and sisters Robert Hamilton Pengrove, CA, Mary Hamilton Davis San Anselmo CA, David Hamilton Eugene, OR, Katherine Hamilton San Anselmo, CA; mother-in-law Barbara Buzard of Chenequa, WI, and sister-in-law Barbara and Dick Wenniger of Gypsum, CO. In addition, she had countless friends who loved her very much. Christy grew up in Milwaukee, WI. She was a 'lifer' at the founding schools of the University School of Milwaukee - Country Day School for nursery and kindergarten, Milwaukee University School from first through fifth grade, Downer Seminary from sixth through eighth grade, and ninth through twelfth grade at USM, serving as class president in twelfth grade. She graduated from Smith College, Northampton, MA majoring in economics and art history. She spent her junior year in Geneva, Switzerland and earned a masters degree from the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University in 1983. She worked from 1972 through 1988 for The Continental Illinois Bank and Citibank in international banking, living in Brussels, Belgium; Paris, France; and Chicago, IL; and briefly lived in Athens, Greece. Christy and Rob Foote were married in 1992 and she moved from Chicago to Chenequa. She loved playing golf and tennis and was an excellent skier. She loved planning trips anywhere in the world, and was particularly adept at finding great restaurants for 'proper' lunches and dinners. She loved her month-long French and Spanish language immersion programs in Villefranche-sur-Mer, France; Seville, Spain; and Buenos Aires, Argentina and traveling with friends anywhere in the world. Her warm and generous spirit captured all who knew her. Christy had been a member of the Milwaukee Country Club, the Chenequa Country Club, the Milwaukee Club and the Racquet Club of Chicago. She was an active participant on the Women's Board of the Rehabilitation Institute in Chicago, the board of the Wisconsin Humane Society, the board of the Fine Arts Society and Collector's Corner of the Milwaukee Art Museum, the Cancer Research Board of the Medical College of Wisconsin, the Colonial Dames, and the Green Tree Garden Club. She was a mentor with ABCD counseling women dealing with breast cancer. In 1999 she was one of the founders of the Tee Up for a Cure golf outing, the Breast Cancer Show House and on the board for research at the Medical College of Wisconsin. There will be a service to celebrate Christy's life at 4:00 PM on Saturday, February 15, held at St Christopher's Episcopal Church, 7845 North River Road in River Hills. The family will greet friends at a reception following the service. Christy has asked that in lieu of flowers donations in her memory be made to the Froedtert Hospital Foundation - Clinical Cancer Center for breast cancer research, 9200 W. Wisconsin Ave. Milwaukee, WI 53226; or the Wisconsin Humane Society, 4500 W. Wisconsin Ave. Milwaukee, WI 53208.
