1956 - 2014 |
Brost, Linda Diane Met her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 21, 2014. Born March 18, 1956, a beloved 58 year old mother of Stephen, Kevin, and Mike, and dear sister of Greg (Ellen) Wolf. Linda was born to Frank and Miriam Wolf and grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana. As a student at Arlington High School, Linda discovered her passion for helping others, spending her summers working with underprivileged children and at a Muscular Dystrophy camp. After graduating from
, Linda's work focused on providing support and enrichment programs to disadvantaged and at-risk youth in inner city Indianapolis. Later, Linda spent several years in pharmaceutical sales. Linda then returned to the non-profit sector, as the Vice President of Business Development and Marketing at Ways to Work, which provides low-interest loans, financial education, and support to working families with challenging credit histories so they can finance the reliable transportation needed for gainful employment. Throughout her varied career, Linda valued most the positive impact her work had on the lives of others, and the friendships she built along the way. Linda devoted herself wholly to her three children, lovingly raising them while working full time. Linda even taught herself baseball and football so she could teach her sons. She chartered countless fishing trips, from Colorado to the Florida Keys to North Dakota, to spend more time with her boys. She took them on countless trips across the country, teaching them to appreciate the beauty and diversity of America. Linda sought to instill a strong work ethic, compassion for others, and a sense of gratitude in each of her sons. In addition to playing the role of both parents for her own three children, she was a second mother to countless others and the Brost house was always filled with laughter. Because of Linda's unconditional love and constant nurturing, her sons' friends are better, stronger individuals. Above all, Linda enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, biking along Lake Michigan, and living life to the fullest. Linda was an active member of her church and a dedicated volunteer. Her disaster relief work took her to the East Coast after Hurricane Sandy, to Illinois following a series of tornados, and to Haiti, where she helped build an orphanage after a powerful earthquake. She was a relentless altruist and a woman of strong faith. Linda sacrificed her own wants and needs in order to see those around her as happy and successful as possible. She was guided by compassion and empathy for all. To Linda, there were no strangers, just friends she had not yet met. She will be dearly missed, but her spirit will live on in us all. Family and friends will gather to celebrate Linda's life on Sunday, April 6, at Eastbrook Church from 3:45 PM to 5:15 PM with a Memorial Service beginning at 5:30 PM. Please join us in celebrating Linda as she loved you: comfortable, casual, and colorful. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Linda's name may be made to Eastbrook Church, 5385 N. Green Bay Rd., Milwaukee, WI 53209; Samaritan's Purse, P.O. Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607; or to the United Way of Greater Milwaukee, 225 W. Vine St., Milwaukee WI 53212.
