Mark Owen Hanson

Notice Condolences

Hanson, Mark Owen Age 85, of Three Pillars in Dousman, died after a brief illness. Dear husband of Marylee, father of Mark B. (Sally) Hanson of Niles, Michigan and Gail Hanson (Richard Graebner) of Oconomowoc. Grandfather to Bethany Hanson, of St. Joseph, Michigan, and Rebecca Graebner, of Washington, D.C., uncle to quite a few nieces and nephews. Mark was born in Devil's Lake, North Dakota and grew up in Green Bay, Wisconsin with two other brothers and three sisters. The son of a Lutheran minister, he graduated from Washington High School in Racine, Wisconsin, and served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1945-1946. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin - Madison in metallurgical engineering in 1951 and married Marylee Falkner in 1952. He retired from metallurgy in 1985, and he and Marylee spent many years in Stuart, Florida. They returned to Wisconsin in 2011 to be near their family. As well as wife and children, Mark is survived by his sister Geraldine Hansen. His brothers Tom and Don, and sisters Helen Hanson and Irene Feuerstein, preceded him in death. A veteran of World War II, Mark passed away on Veteran's Day. A private family service will be held in loving memory of Mark. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Aurora Visiting Nurse Association, at 950 N. 12th St., Suite A518, Milwaukee, WI 53233.
