Robert Thorwald "Bob" Larsen Notice
Larsen, Robert Thorwald "Bob" Robert "Bob" Thorwald Larsen, 93, of Germantown, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 26, 2014, at Community Memorial Hospital in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin. Bob was born April 17, 1921 in Menominee, Michigan to the late Thorwald and Martha (Salewsky) Larsen. He married Doreen Diane Dungan on April 10, 1954, who preceded him in death in 2006. Bob graduated from Menominee (MI) High School and Michigan Technological University with a degree in mechanical engineering. He earned additional Masters degrees at the University of Wisconsin and also did graduate studies at M.I.T. and Purdue University. Bob worked at General Motors, Standard Oil of Indiana and Outboard Marine Corporation, receiving numerous individual and joint patents during his career. During his twenty-five years with Outboard Marine, Bob's working relationship with company president Ralph Evinrude was reminiscent of earlier professional collaborations between Bob's grandfather, Louis, and Ralph's father and company founder, Ole. He served for many years as deacon and trustee of the Evangelical Covenant Church in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin and, with his sons, was active in Boy Scouts. After retiring in 1983, Bob and Doreen relocated from Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin and resided in Three Lakes, Wisconsin; Belleview, Florida; and Pewaukee, Wisconsin. Bob is survived by his three children, Donald (Megan) Larsen of The Woodlands, Texas; David Larsen of Arlington, Virginia; and Marian (Anthony) DeStefano of Grafton, Wisconsin, as well as three granddaughters, Sarah Larsen of St. Paul, Minnesota; Gabrielle DeStefano and Rachel DeStefano, both of Grafton, Wisconsin. A celebration of Bob's life will be held on August 16, 2014, at the Brookfield Presbyterian Church, 1485 N. Brookfield Road, Brookfield, Wisconsin, with visitation at 10:30 AM and a memorial service at 11:30 AM. The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, any memorial gifts be made in Bob's name to either the Milwaukee Rescue Mission or the Florida United Methodist Children's Home. To receive this obit/directions, text 1404922 to 414-301-6422
