Walter I. Jones Notice
Jones, Walter I. Walter Idris Jones, Jr. died at home on August 4, 2013, in New Berlin. He was born on November 14, 1921, in Joliet, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Arline Hart Jones, his parents and his sisters. He is survived by his children: Susan (James) Turgeon of Apple Valley, MN; Steven Jones of Galesburg, IL; and Barbara (William) Reed of New Berlin, as well as his grandchildren: Katherine and Brian Reed. Walt and Arline met in Minneapolis and were married on September 23, 1946. They lived in Joliet until 2002 when they moved to New Berlin. Walt was a graduate of Vanderbilt University and served in the Army in WWII. He retired from Stephens Adamson/Sealmaster in Aurora, IL. He was proud to have been one of the founders of the George Werden Buck Boys Club in Joliet and served as its board president. He was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church, the Community Chest (United Way) and the Association of Commerce in Joliet. Walt was an avid golfer, and he and Arline enjoyed many golfing trips as well as gathering with friends for games, cards and laughter. While in New Berlin he loved volunteering at Hoover Elementary School, and was grateful for dear friends at the National Regency. One of his great joys during his years in New Berlin was being able to watch his grandchildren grow up. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2013, at 11:00 AM, at St. John's Lutheran Church, 20275 Davidson Rd., Brookfield, WI.
